Experience

ADEW have been working freelance for 5+ years full time on commercial web sites, and 10 years working in the computing industry.  Until April 2000, David Rodgers worked as a C++ software developer, developing Teletext Management Systems for companies such as the BBC, Sky etc.  This provided invaluable experience in writing mission critical systems - i.e. systems that work.

Background

Since becoming freelance in April 2000, ADEW have developed strong web development skills using ASP and databases, by developing a variety of sites, alongside continued software development skills. These have included e-commerce sites, content manage driven sites, desktop applications (such as Total Cost of Ownership applications, windows services etc.) and bespoke development.

One key customer has been ActiveBrand, where David has helped to develop the backend of their content management and e-commerce systems. Their content management system, SiteSphere, has some complex features, coded in ASP and Microsoft SQL Server.  One of their e-commerce systems, StoreSphere, has some complex ASP and Microsoft SQL Server coding behind it, include complex Stored Procedures.  One of the complexities is synchronizing offline company sales databases with the online versions.

ADEW do not work for one customer at a time however, and have worked for a variety of other customers developing various sites.  A recent commission has seen ADEW redeveloping the ASP / database side of a site that has approximately £50,000 per year spent on Pay per Click advertising on it alone.

Project Management

As ADEW tend to have several projects running concurrently, ADEW believe it is vital to manage their time carefully, so deadlines are met without last minutes panics.  ADEW use Project Management software to manage their own tasks, breaking projects down into manageable& achievable milestones where necessary.

ADEW have a good track record of delivering goods to agreed time plans.

Server Maintenance

Whilst ADEW do not have any of their own servers, ADEW have helped to support ActiveBrand's web servers, in configuring web server applications (IIS), DNS configurations, Domain Management, email server etc.  This has provided considerable experience in managing the technical side of web sites, and understanding of server loads etc.
