Documentation

I believe that documentation is a key area in web site development. Without it, confusion can arise as to what is going to be done, which can lead to failure to deliver systems. I can create documents outlining what your requirements etc. are. My 0.5 / 1 etc. day consulting fees include a 1or 2 page report for the below (depending on project size). For some projects this is sufficient, other projects may require more detailed reports to be produced, which will be charged as an additional fee on request.

More detail is provided below about the types of documents produced - others can be produced too. On small projects these sections will likely be combined into just one document.

	Requirements Details the requirements of your system, without focusing on how or if it can be implemented. Can be regarded as a 'wish list' in some cases. Helps to keep the project focused on the real aims of the site.
	Specification Takes the site requirements and converts these into a set of achievable goals in terms of implementing a web site. For example, your company might want in the long term to produce a large e-commerce site, but it might be more practical to implement it in stages, and see what the return on investment is like on each stage.
	Design Design is a critical part of a system. Design might include recommendation of using an existing e-commerce backbone, or the recommendation of a database system / structure.
	Implementation Schedule Documents who will implement what, including deadlines.
	Quotation Cost of how much specified work will cost, and when it will be completed. Produced on request.

Costs
As part of my consultation procedure, I will by default produce a short report which includes an overview of the above on your requirements. If you have a large project and require a more detailed report to be produced, this can be done, for an additional fee, on request.
